What does “bad luck” mean in Vedic astrology?
Most people use the words “bad luck” for a run of setbacks that seems to have no cause. Deals fall through, money slips away, a relationship stalls, or the same problem keeps returning in a different form.
Vedic astrology does not treat this as a curse or a punishment. It looks at your birth chart (kundli) and the planetary period (dasha) you are living through. A difficult dasha, or a planet placed unfavourably in your chart, can explain why effort at certain times brings little result. Understanding that pattern is the first step toward acting at better moments and with more clarity.
Situations people commonly bring to this consultation:
- Repeated setbacks at work or in business
- Money that comes in and leaves just as quickly
- Delays in marriage, or relationships that keep stalling
- Ongoing tension at home with no clear cause
- Feeling that timing keeps working against important decisions

Signs People Often Notice Before They Seek a Chart Review
Astrology cannot be confirmed by a checklist, and only a chart review can say what applies to you. These are the patterns that most often lead people to book a consultation:
- The same obstacle keeps returning. A job, deal or plan falls through in similar ways more than once.
- Effort and result don’t match. You work steadily, but progress stays slow or reverses.
- Delays around big milestones. Marriage, a home purchase, a business launch or a move keeps getting pushed back.
- Money leaves as fast as it arrives. Unexpected expenses appear just as savings begin to build.
- A long stretch of stress across several areas at once. Work, family and finances all feel heavy at the same time.
If these describe your situation, a chart review can show whether a particular dasha or planetary position lines up with the period you are in.
How Pandit Nataraju Identifies the Cause
Every consultation follows the same order, and nothing is recommended before the chart has been reviewed.
- Your birth details. Date, exact time and place of birth are used to prepare your kundli.
- Chart and dasha review. He studies your current dasha and planetary transits, and which areas of life they affect: money, marriage, career or family.
- Discussion. He explains what the chart shows and how it relates to what you are experiencing, in plain language.
- Remedies, if any. Only after this analysis does he discuss what may help.
If you don’t know your birth time, tell him during the consultation and he will advise on how to proceed.
Planetary Influences Commonly Discussed in Vedic Astrology
Traditional Vedic astrology associates certain planetary periods and placements with difficult phases. Whether any of them apply to you depends entirely on your own chart.
- Saturn (Shani). Saturn’s periods and transits, including the seven-and-a-half-year phase known as Sade Sati, are traditionally linked with delays, hard lessons and slow progress.
- Rahu and Ketu. These lunar nodes are associated with sudden changes, confusion and unexpected turns, especially during their dashas.
- Mars (Mangal). Its placement is traditionally considered in matters of marriage and conflict.
- Ancestral and karmic patterns. Some traditions also look at family or past-life influences when the same problem repeats across generations.
These are traditional interpretations, not certainties. A chart review looks at how these factors combine in your own horoscope, and often finds nothing alarming at all.
Areas of Life a Chart Review can Look at
- Career and business. Which periods favour a job change, a launch or a partnership, and which call for caution.
- Finance. Patterns of income, savings and expenses, and the timing of major purchases or investments.
- Marriage and relationships. Delays, compatibility questions and the timing of important decisions. For reconciliation concerns, see Get Ex Back.
- Family and home. Recurring tension and how the charts of family members may interact. See Family Problem Solution.
- General wellbeing. Periods of stress or low energy, discussed as part of the overall picture.
What the Remedies Involve
Remedies depend on your chart, so they differ from person to person. They may include:
- Mantra practice: a specific mantra to recite on set days
- Prayers or a puja: for example, a Navagraha Shanti puja
- Timing guidance: which periods favour starting a business, signing an agreement or making a move, and which call for patience
- Simple routine or home changes: where the chart suggests them
For each recommendation he explains what it is, why it is suggested for your chart, what you need to do and for how long. You decide whether to go ahead, and you are never pressured to accept a remedy.
Bad Luck Removal and Negative Energy Removal: What’s the Difference?
The two services overlap but start from different places.
- Bad luck removal starts from your birth chart. It looks at dasha, transits and timing to understand repeated setbacks and to plan around them.
- Negative energy removal focuses on spiritual and energy cleansing, protective practices and the atmosphere of a home or workplace. See Negative Energy Removal.
Many clients begin with a chart review, and Pandit Nataraju will tell you if another approach may suit your situation better.
Timing Your Decisions With Astrology
Vedic astrology places great weight on muhurta, the choice of an auspicious time. Using your chart, Pandit Nataraju can advise on favourable periods for:
- Signing a contract or starting a business
- Buying a home or vehicle
- Marriage and engagement dates
- Travelling or relocating
- Beginning a course of study or a new job
Choosing a time this way does not remove the need for practical planning. It is meant to sit alongside sound financial, legal and personal judgement.
